Accessibility

Last Updated: 14th December 2024

Gather is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our online survey platform and website.

Our Commitment

We believe everyone should be able to access and use our entire system, regardless of ability or technology. We are committed to making our platform accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We aim to meet this standard across our survey-taking interface, administration portal, and main company website.

We also recognise the importance of the Equality Act 2010 in the UK, which requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities.

Compliance Status

Public facing elements: Fully compliant

Staff facing elements: Partially compliant

We are working hard to achieve our goal of WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance for our entire system. Based on our recent assessments, we believe our platform is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard at this time.

Public facing elements of Gather are fully compliant – meaning that when you complete a survey, questionnaire or form on Gather, we meet all required standards.

We are actively working to address the identified areas of non-conformance in our reporting systems, which are only accessed by registered users of the system.

Due to the complex nature of the Gather dashboards, reports and charts, some elements are not currently keyboard or screenreader accessible.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following features to improve accessibility:

  • Keyboard Navigation: Our platform can be navigated using a keyboard alone.
  • Screen Reader Compatibility: We aim for compatibility with popular screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver. Key elements have appropriate labels and descriptions.
  • Text Alternatives: We provide text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful images and non-text content.
  • Resizable Text: You can adjust the text size using your browser settings without loss of content or functionality.
  • Responsive Design: Our platform adapts to different screen sizes and orientations.
  • Colour Contrast: We strive to maintain sufficient colour contrast between text and background elements.
  • Clear Structure: We use headings, lists, and other structural elements to help users understand content and navigate pages.
  • Accessible Forms: Survey questions and form fields include clear labels and instructions. Error messages are designed to be identifiable and understandable.

Non-Accessible Content / Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas may currently have accessibility limitations:

  • Charts: some charts cannot be navigated using keyboards only, and are not fully detected by screen reading software
  • Dashboards: some of our more complex dashboards cannot be accessed using keyboard only navigation due to their complex layout and content

We are actively working to address these limitations where feasible. If you encounter an issue not listed here, please contact us.
